Dance India Dance is a dancing reality show aired on Indian satellite television channel Zee TV.The show, hosted by Tarana Raja and Jay Bhanushali, revolves around finding the most talented young dancer, Zee TV USA said in a press release.After eight worldwide auditions, including submissions from South Asians in the United States, the field has been narrowed to 18 finalists, from 15 to 25 years old.Over the course of the show, each of the 18 aspirants is trained by top Bollywood choreographers, such as Terence Lewis, Geeta Kapoor and Remo.
Participants will be taught ballet, jazz, hiphop, salsa and even shadow dancing, among other dance forms.Each will be mentored by actor Mithun Chakraborty, who starred in the 1970s hit ‘Disco Dancer.' The contestants will compete for the audience's votes to make the final 18.
The winner receives prize money, a contract and production of his or her own dance video.Voting, which begins at the end of February, will be digital and across platforms, including SMS, Internet, IVRS and televoting.
Remo D’Souza has choreographed for films like Rangeela, 36 China Town, Dhoom etc and was even part of the dance troupe for the title song of Rangeela. Geeta Kapoor has choreographed for films like Saathiya, Heyy Baby, Om Shanti Om and the recently released Dostana. Terence Lewis, the internationally trained choreographer specializes in Indian folk and contemporary dance forms, and he has been part of films like Lagaan, Jhankaar Beats.
